EIRC Visiting Scientists, Post-Doctoral Fellows and Graduate StudentsEIRC typically employs several graduate students working toward Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Materials Science, Physics, or Electrical Engineering. Their time is divided between basic research for their thesis project and work on EIRC projects for which they are paid. Usually, the more fundamental aspects of EIRC projects is appropriate thesis research; however, the fact that the graduate students are paid for work on EIRC projects, in conjunction with the capabilities of EIRC's staff, allows confidential projects to be carried out on behalf of project sponsors. EIRC typically employs one or two Postdoctoral Fellows who conduct project research under the direction of EIRC faculty. Scientists from foreign countries often visit EIRC for periods of several months to a year in order to take part in EIRC projects and take home with them some of the substantial background of expertise which has developed within EIRC. |
