Rheology

Extensive facilities exist for measuring viscous and elastic properties of materials by measuring storage and loss moduli. Measurements can be made of both steady and dynamic mechanical properties of solutions, melts and solids. Major equipment items include:

  • Environmental creep testing apparatus
  • Instron capillary rheometer
  • Parr Physica controlled stress rheometer
  • ARES-LS controlled strain rheometer
  • TA instruments dynamic mechanical analyzer
  • small angle light scattering on a rheometer mechanical spectrometer.

In addition, extensive facilities for the preparation of polymeric materials and their processing are available including:  hot presses; two-roll and Wiley mills and a Brabender prep center.
