Mechanical Testing

Complete facilities for strength, stiffness, tensile creep, cyclic fatique, and impact testing, as well as for failure analysis are available. These facilities provide for testing under different loading conditions, temperatures, and environments. Major equipment items include:

Instron 1350 Servohydraulic Load Frame

with 8500 series control retrofit 5,000 and 10,000lb. load capacity, 60 Hz. frequency limit.

MTS 810 Servohydraulic Load Frame

with 8500 series control retrofit 20,000 lb. capacity, 30 Hz. frequency limit.

CGS model 1 Servohydraulic Load Frame

200°C water-cooled chamber and 5,000 lb. capacity, 30 Hz. frequency limit.

Instron 4301 Series Universal Load Frame

1,000 lb. and 10,000 lb. capacity, 2 in./min. maximum rate.

MTS 810 Hydraulic Load Frame

with 8500 series control retro-fit, 20,000 lb. capacity, 20 in./min. maximum rate.

Instron 5869 Electromechanical Load Frame

10,000 lb. capacity with Merlin software.

MTS/NANA Instruments Nanoindenter SP

For indent testing with micro-newton and nanometer resolution, normal and dynamic indents under load, depth, or weight control, and scratch testing.

FALEX Multi-Specimen Tribometer

Capable of up to 16 different friction and wear tests under controlled atmospheres at speeds of 60 to 300 rpm, loads of 0.5 to 800 lbs, and temperatures between ambient and 150°C.
