Polymer Program Title

Program Activities

Weekly Seminars: The Polymer Program sponsors weekly, interactive seminars featuring speakers from other respected institutions and industry. All students are required to attend.

Symposia: Frequent polymer science symposia bring internationally renowned speakers to campus. Recent symposium topics have included macromolecular catalysis, polymer blends, adhesion and interpenetrating networks, surfaces and interfaces, and photonic and electronic applications of polymers.

Visiting Scientists: Academic, government, and industrial polymer scientists regularly come to IMS as visiting professors, for periods of one month to a year. They contribute to the program through their research and by their participation in conferences and seminars.

IMS Associates Program: Companies dependent on polymer research are encouraged to participate in the IMS Associates Program. The purpose of the IMS Associates Program is to afford member firms direct and convenient access. At the same time, the financial assistance received by IMS from industry strengthens and expands its activities. The collaboration between technical personnel in industry and the University's faculty affords each a better understanding of the other's concerns while achieving specific R & D objectives.

Short Courses: The Polymer Program conducts short courses on specific topics throughout the year so that smaller companies and motivated individuals can benefit from the concentration of research and expertise at the University.
