Functional Polymers via Self-Assembly Friday, September 21, 2007 11:00 am , IMS Room 20 The design and synthesis of complex polymeric architectures such as multifunctional copolymers or block copolymers is of utmost importance for a variety of materials applications ranging from drug delivery systems to organic light-emitting diodes. We will present novel methodologies towards the synthesis of such polymeric architectures using a combination of non-covalent interactions and controlled polymerization techniques. Furthermore, we will describe a variety of applications of these methodologies including template polymerizations, the formation of highly cross-linked and functional copolymers, as well as surface functionalization and patterning.
