The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) UConn Student Chapter

The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) is a leading international organization dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and education for all plastics professionals. Founded in 1942, SPE is home to nearly 20,000 plastics professionals in over 84 countries around the world. The UConn student chapter of SPE was founded at the Institute of Material Science in 1981. During these more than 30 years, the UConn student chapter has organized various events and activities including tours of local plants in the industry and outreach programs increasing education in polymers from elementary school through high school. During the Polymer Program Seminar Series, SPE members volunteer by supervising equipment and setting up refreshments. The organization also arranges the SPE Student Seminar Series that invites field leaders, senior students and postdoctoral fellows from the Southern New England area to present on polymer related topics.

University-wide there are over 500 student clubs and organizations. There’s always something interesting to do and a multitude of ways to get involved at UConn. Please visit the SPE UConn chapter website for further information.
